ecause Kentucky employers face specific problems in recruiting workers with basic workplace skills, the Partnership commissioned research focusing on two primary questions:
- What skills do Kentucky businesses consider essential for their new employees?
- What makes an individual, especially a recent high school graduate, an attractive candidate for employment?
Ready for Work: Essential Skills for Kentucky Jobs is a research summary that synthesizes recently published literature, surveys, and studies, and features interviews with business owners, corporate executives, personnel administrators and others who work in human resource development. More than 10,000 copies have been distributed to individuals and groups such as superintendents, high school and middle school principals, school counselors, vocational-technical administrators, teachers and Chambers of Commerce. Two thousand copies have been distributed through the Kentucky Department of Education.
