What you as an educator can do:

Make academic achievement for every student every day your top priority in teaching and learning.
Help make your school a learning center for families and the larger community.
Build a school environment where students, staff, parents, and citizens feel welcome.
Evaluate whether your school's practices are helping all students improve.
If your school's resources fall short, furnish the leadership that will secure additional support.
Establish study groups to learn about and share promising practices that promote learning for all students.
Develop materials that describe to parents and other citizens how they can help improve schools in ways that target student achievement and support teaching.
Help others understand why academic standards are important and how the standards drive what happens in classrooms.
Develop a plan that markets your school to the larger community.
Find new and different ways to communicate what is going on in your classrooms to parents and other citizens.
