We believe that professional development provides educators and schools with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to create the learning opportunities for all students to learn at high levels. With limited time and resources, informed decisions about quality professional development are critical. Building and Sustaining Learning Communities: A Professional Development Resource Guide includes vignettes, interviews, reports, articles and research to help you think about professional development as a vehicle to improve teaching and learning.
Making schools safer for students has become a nationwide priority in the wake of highly publicized school shootings in recent years. But there is a lot of conflicting information about how safe schools really are and what is necessary to make them secure without sacrificing the open, welcoming environment that is so important for student learning.
Conversations in Kentucky about student preparedness are more focused than ever. How well prepared are students to enter college and the workforce? What skills are considered essential for new employees? What makes an individual an attractive candidate for employment? The Partnership asked employers, parents, educators and students for their opinions on these issues. This toolkit presents the results and helps communities address student preparation for life after high school.
Developed with the help of people in several Kentucky schools, this 200-page toolkit guides teams of students, educators, and community members as they carry out high-quality research with students on ways to improve schools. This toolkit provides direct support for schools and communities that need powerful ways to improve school performance and student achievement.
